About Susan
In my work I gather elements of my mythological images and archetypes from the past and reassemble them into a personal and contemporary context. For me the most interesting vehicle to express these images is the human form.
In the past I have been mainly preoccupied by the female form. Being female I have found this to be a very direct form of self expression.
My influences come from an interest in history, science fiction and fantasy. The figures are neither past, present or future but moving between time with elements of many places in time. This effect is enhanced by the surface treatment which is designed to make the work look aged.
I teach ceramics at Nepean and Hornsby TAFE and annually run 2-4 workshops for Ceramic Groups around the country. My work is shown regularly in galleries Australia wide.
